- I grew up in Lyndhurst,NJ and attended Queen of Peace H.S. where the incoherence and hypocracy of christianity was clearly evident. I was able to test and expand my outlook relative to other religions and spiritual viewpoints at Middlebury College where I recieved a BA Economics in 1981. I was then awarded a Graduate Assistantship at Syracuse Univ. and obtained an MBA in Logistics in 1985. I have 27 years of executive experience and currently own a small logistics firm in Wayne, NJ. I am a past president and current board member of the Traffic Club of New York. Over the past 20 years I have refined my views on Atheism and explored many books and periodicals on the issues of god, religion, cosmology, and evolutionary psychology/biology. I am a life member of American Atheists and have membership in various other freethought organizations. Since 1998 I have attended many atheist and freethought events. I have also traveled the world including business and personal trips to Japan, China, Australia, South Africa, Zambia, Morocco, Israel, and throughout Europe and North America. This blog is the next step in my exploration of atheism.

I actually buy this study. I believe smart people are more likely to become successful. I believe that successful people are more likely to believe that they alone are responsible for their success… after all, why share the credit? Certainly not with a superior being. I mean, how could there be a being superior to them?
I remember an old op-ed by Peggy Noonan making such a point…. Titled something like “Why Rich People Hate the Virgin Mary.” She makes a better read than I. Although she’s losing me lately.
On the other hand, I know many, many people with genius IQs. All successful. Yet, I can only think of 1 or 2 who are atheists (*or vegetarians… to comment on the “related article” in the margin), that’s probably no greater a showing than my non-genius friends.
*As far as I’m concerned, if you won’t eat steak or lobster, your intelligence is suspect at best.
